Blitz2Go Drinks for Kids After School

Now that the kiddos are back to school we have all been able to get ourselves into a routine.  Breakfast gets eaten, lunch boxes get packed, dinner is thought about, but what up the time between school pick up and dinner.  You know that time where they want to eat everything in the fridge but then not eat dinner!

I have put together three drinks to keep them happy until dinner time.  Serve them with a homemade snack and you will have happy little tummies (and your fridge supplies stay in tack for another day).

I am using the Kambrook Blitz2Go to make these drinks quick and easily.  While I have poured them into a glass for the purpose of taking a photo, the drinks are made in the same bottle that you drink out of saving on time and washing up.

Simply replace the blade end with a lid and your good to go.  Make them before you pick the children and up and take them with you (with piece of mind they won't spill) or place them in the fridge until you get home.  Too easy!

    WATERMELON HYDRATOR

This one is perfect for a hot afternoon when the little ones may be a little dehydrated and need a boost to get them through the afternoon.

    INGREDIENTS

    • ¼ of a Seedless Watermelon, cubed
    • 250ml Coconut Water
    • Splash Lime Juice

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Simply place the watermelon into a large Blitz2Go bottle, add the coconut water and a splash of lime juice.  Blitz for 10 seconds.
    2. Switch to the lid and enjoy.  If serving later, give it a little shake before drinking.

TIP: Try using frozen watermelon for a thick icy drink.

    ORANGE BOOST

The perfect drink for the lead up to Winter to get them a boost of Vitamin C.  The frozen banana makes it thick and the addition of yoghurt brings it altogether.

    INGREDIENTS

    • 2 Large Oranges, peeled, seeded and any white pith removed, chopped
    • 1 Frozen Banana, pieces
    • 2 Tbs Natural Yoghurt
    • Splash of water
    • Optional: Tbsp of Honey if your oranges aren't very sweet

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Place chopped oranges, frozen banana pieces, the yoghurt and a splash of water (to get it going) into the large Blitzz2Go Bottle. Blitz for 20 seconds until smooth and creamy.
    2. Switch to the lid and enjoy.

    FUNKY MONKEY SMOOTHIE

     a1sx2_Thumbnail1_Funky-Monkey-Smoothie2.JPG

This is a great variation on your traditional chocolate smoothie.  Adding peanut butter, frozen banana and quick oats thickens it up (to keep the full) and adds extra goodness.

    INGREDIENTS

    • 1 Frozen Banana, diced
    • 1 Tsp Cocoa
    • 1 Tbs Peanut Butter
    • 2 Tbs Quick Oats
    • 300ml Milk

    DIRECTIONS

    1. Place all the ingredients into the small Blitz2Go bottle and blitz for 20 seconds.  Allow to sit for a couple of minutes for the flavours to infuse and thicken. You will have a thick smooth chocolate coloured smoothie.
    2. Switch to the lid and enjoy.

Cooking For Busy Mums was founded 4 months after my first son was born in February of 2010 when I quickly realised that the meals my husband and myself had become accustomed too were a thing of the past.

Meals would have to be quick, simple, cost effective, and dinner time made as hassle free as possible.

I decided it would be great to share my recipes with fellow busy mums and create a community where we can all help each other with answers that were tried and tested as apposed to being "googled".
